EPCs have been required for commercial buildings when they are sold or Let since 2008. The rating for a non domestic building is based on carbon emissions from heating, cooling, hot water, ventilation and lighting and does not include the processes of the business.

What is an EPC

​

Energy Performance Certificates are the EU's way of trying to monitor and reduce CO2 emissions from Buildings. A Non-Domestic EPC is a 2 Page document which has:

• a rating between A and G for the building, based on calculated carbon emissions.

• the typical rating for a building of that type.

• the standard for a new build property of that type for comparison.

 

The second document is the Recommendations Report, which has a list of relevant improvements which could be made to the property.
